Book Launch Series – Angelle Ferrer

Angelle: [00:00:00] We are in our 20s, our 30s, our 40s, even, and we’re still struggling to see how everything that we’ve been done can come together. And I think that what everyone will take from this is that when we’re in. Survival mode, it’s difficult for us to slow down and reflect and be able to see how all of our experiences have been directing us, how we’ve discovered this in pieces and all of a sudden you reach a pivotal moment where it all comes together and then you know,

Speaker 2: Welcome to the BU Brand Podcast.

I am your host, Ati Greenstein, and if you’re looking to build a million dollar personal brand, sell out your services, and do it all while living your best life and fulfilling your purpose, you’ve come to the right place. Welcome aboard, my [00:01:00] friend.

Well, hello, hello,

Ati: Hello. I’m

interviewing the authors of our upcoming book, Be you Brand, the book. Your story, your business, your way. And I’m so excited to bring one of my co authors. She is part of our mastermind. So if a book is in your heart, this is a must listen.

One of the things that. I feel like it has been life changing is to be able to put our stories into paper. This is the second book that I actually partake in. And when we talk about personal brand, we are talking about how we’re making a difference in the world with what we do. The truth is that not one size fits all on that.

How you do business on [00:02:00] your story truly shapes how you help others on. There is a lot of power on actually taking the time to put that story into paper on actually looking at the nuances and looking at the pivots on looking at all the details that actually Make up your story, the part of your story that actually helps others.

And that is what we did. We, or Be brand your business, your story, your way. This book is coming up September 1st. We’re having a book launch parties. So if you want to be part of that, I would love if you want to put it in the comments and we’ll send you a link. It’s complimentary to join. I think it will be so amazing for the women there because our mission is to help a thousand women tell their own story their own way.

I’m super excited. She’s here. Yay! [00:03:00] Hello, my friend. How are you? I was not supposed to do that. Yay! I am so excited to have you here. Hello, everybody.

I gave everybody an intro of what we’re talking about. Wonderful. Angel, welcome to the Be Brand podcast and to our book launch series. And I would love for you to introduce yourself. Tell the world who you are, what you do, and then we’ll go from there. Yes my name is Angel Ferrer, and I am a career coach and job search strategist working with folks across many industries.

But my sweet spot is technology, product and business. I’m just working with both in a very hard time helping them guide this. Very hard center. And what is so interesting about you is you’re a tech girl through and through. I want to tell you guys, she’s been part of the brand Academy for over a year.[00:04:00]

And now she’s in the Ascension mastermind. She blew this new business out of the water. But one of the biggest challenges that you encounter was actually mixing your story, who you are, and like bringing that to life into your story and helping others. So my question, my first question, I’m going to, I’m going to throw it into the dogs right there.

What was the first thing? What inspired you? to actually contribute to this collective book? And how does your personal story actually align with our overarching theme of, our business, our stories, our way?

Angelle: Yes, I will say what inspired me to get involved is I am a very self reflective person.

I feel like we can’t improve unless we take a step and evaluate where we’re at. And sometimes that’s difficult to do. And that does not come easy for everybody. So that’s something I definitely work through when I’m working with my [00:05:00] clients, but even just going through my own growth. And this was definitely an opportunity.

I saw the parallels right away to what I do versus Just my own growth building my business And I knew it was just something I wanted to be a part of I knew it would Tear a bunch of walls down and I am all for growth even if it’s going to be challenging because I know it’s coming out the other side is what truly matters

Ati: I love that. You’re talking about growth. What has been your own growth through not only writing the chapter, but actually growing your personal brand? Because again, right when you first came in, I remember like you had, such a hard time like you’re very black or white like you like telling your story and getting into that heartfelt sharing even though you are heartfelt and actually you’re very faith based but telling that to other people what’s something that wasn’t natural to you so what does this [00:06:00] growth actually look for you

Angelle: one of the Biggest challenge that I had was just, I struggled a lot to articulate just the very basic, what the book was going to be about, what I wanted people to get from it.

And I had to detach from that because when you ask me those questions, I go to business mode. Yeah. And really it’s not about that part of how we serve and part on how we can inspire and help folks is really just sharing our vulnerabilities and sharing kind of our mess. And so I had to disconnect from what I was trying to share from a business standpoint.

I recall I don’t know what this means to my client base. It has nothing to do with that. We are all people. We’re all trying to discover who were meant to be our purpose in this life, discover that fulfillment. We all have that in common. And when I finally disconnected from all that and just focused on my story, Which I am going to assume if we breathe, many of [00:07:00] us can relate to at some point in our lives, it got easier.

Ati: I love that. Oh my gosh I, it’s so glad, I’m so glad to actually hear that because I’m part of it, right? I’m there, right there with you guys. And as, as a leader, I think that one of my things has been letting you guys grow. Through the pain of actually not knowing and allowing yourself to tell your story, right?

And to go deep and many times I wanted to be like, Oh, but you can do it this way. And you can tell your story this way. And I’m like no. That’s not my place here, my place is to actually provide the space. . So let me ask you this. Can you share a pivotal moment or a lesson from your journey that you believe will resonate with the readers, with your client base and with the women that we are longing to inspire?

Angelle: Yes, I think. There are many folks, there are some folks in [00:08:00] life that just know their purpose, know what they want to be when they grow up from a young age. And then there’s, and some of those folks actually retain that and they grow up and that’s exactly what their purpose is and who they’re meant to be.

I think for the rest of us, we struggle with that. Even if we have an idea, life is going to hit, we’re going to get curveballs thrown at us and we’re going to have experiences that change our perspective on the world, on ourselves. And so I think that what’s going to resonate with everyone is that a lot of us feel behind the curve because we don’t know our purpose.

We are in our 20s, our 30s, our 40s, even, and we’re still struggling to see how everything that we’ve been done can come together. And I think that what everyone will take from this is that when we’re in. Survival mode, it’s difficult for us to slow down and reflect and be able to see how [00:09:00] all of our experiences have been directing us, how we’ve discovered this in pieces and all of a sudden you reach a pivotal moment where it all comes together and then you know, and even though you’re very insecure and very, you’re still at a beginner’s point in it.

You at least have the path. And now it’s just a matter of taking every step forward that will only continue directing your journey and that it gets exciting. I love that. So when did you actually realize that? What is it? When was a moment that you actually realized, okay, all these insecurity or these lack of clarity on my purpose?

It’s actually meant to be. What happened? When did you realize that?

Writing the book. Really? I love that. I’ve had just, you can be a very bold person in general. General and business, but you can still, some of the most bold people out there are very gentle, insecure on the [00:10:00] inside, and we still have our soft side.

Just because we’re taking step 4 steps forward does not mean we have it all figured out and does not mean we have any idea of how the heck this is going to work. I think, and again, I’m a reflective person. I think I knew that the only way to grow and to learn was to put yourself in uncomfortable positions.

I knew that. And I knew it was all leading me in a way I knew, but I didn’t discover even in my career prior to entrepreneurship. I didn’t even discover how that history came together. So maybe the last 5 years. And then to this season. And now I’m seeing how all of that is coming together.

Okay. I love that you actually, when you said during the moment writing the book, because one of the reasons you know, this is that I decided to put a mastermind together to write a book is because of the profound experience I had writing [00:11:00] a chapter in somebody else’s book, and how that actually plays such a part on my business.

And we don’t realize how much of our story we’re bringing until we actually see it. stop and you again, right? When we’re in survival, we’re busy, we’re doing, we’re taking the action is that we don’t sit down. Maybe we may be journaling, but we’re not really writing a book. And when we sit down to write that chapter, to write that book, to write that story, and we start realizing what truly is important and how that plays a role for others.

Oh, my God. It’s amazing, isn’t it? It’s definitely powerful. And, we’re going to go through lives and this is something that applies whether your goal is to write a book or you’re just still pursuing what is your purpose in this life. And, when we get stuck in that survival mode, even as a single mom, you don’t.

Have the capacity to look at how things are coming together and how [00:12:00] experience is good or bad are growing you informing you because you’re always coming out the other side of some situation. And seeing how all of that is coming together and coming out of that survival mode. We were meant to thrive.

We were not meant to simply survive. And we go through seasons where we, where that’s where, that’s needed. And it’s okay. But staying stuck there is, we lose out on so much that could have been. And it’s, Can be a very insecure place to go, but it’s liberating and any of the limiting beliefs that you collected along the way as you’re liberating yourself from each of these, you, even though you’re probably still a little fearful about it, you’re liberated as you go and take every step forward into this.

And again, you discover purpose that I never thought I would be writing in a book. Yeah. Oh my God. You know what? I need to improve my writing skills anyways. Why not? What it’s like, so [00:13:00] profound for me leading this group is the fact number one is so different than running the VRAN Academy, right?

Because in the VRAN Academy, I’m a coach. I’m an advisor. We look at business. I’m giving you guys the pushing the tushy like to go and do things and get uncomfortable. Yeah. But with the writing of the book, I’m truly also living my own purpose, which is empowering other women to come to what is the difference they make in the world.

And for me, I can’t even emphasize enough how much this has meant to me. But I hearing from you guys, this is like amazing. So I’m gonna, I’m gonna hit you with another question how has embracing your authentic self impacted your professional and personal life? And what advice would you give to others on a similar path?

I will say Something that has begun to reconverge. I know you mentioned, my faith [00:14:00] that is a core part of who I am. And when I joined the academy, that was very up front. This is who I am. This is a part of me, and I was more active and being open with that. And I think I went into my own survival mode, trying to build a business.

And I saw, I think what I have realized in the process of writing this book and thinking of other women who are going to read this, who are going through their own, discovering their purpose in pieces, overcoming their own limiting beliefs, is that my faith is a big part of that. So now even with my social media, I’m being more and I don’t know where it trailed off, but I’m being more bold and putting that back out there because that’s a part of me and that is actually the catapult that led me to opening my business.

Being true to all of my story. All you know, I talked about in my chapter about this puzzle analogy that is like at the core of my puzzle, like the biggest piece of all of them. And so why [00:15:00] am I not being authentic even in my social media? And when I talk to folks about that and I don’t think it was intentional.

It’s just it was a byproduct of survival mode. No, I’m switching that back. I love that. I’m gonna say I, I am I’m gonna put this out there because I wanna be authentic, right? I am not a woman of faith. However, I’m very spiritual. And even since day one you and I talked about it and I was like, I think it needs to be centerpiece because you want to attract women.

And folks that. You are lying at your core. At your core, you need to be working with people that you get them and they get you. So I am so proud of you. And this is the thing, we’re all here to share our stories from different places. So we’re here to impact different kind of people, different beliefs, different, all the different like colors of people.

[00:16:00] And colors in the different like beliefs and systems and countries and all the things that’s why we’re all so different and so similar at the same way. So I’m so proud of you and I can’t wait. There is somebody else in the academy, Amelia, who we have, I think if you’re noticed, I have been pushing her to do the same because I’m like, you want to talk about this.

This is important to you to who you are, right? So if it’s important to who you are, it needs to be out there. Yep. And even though, we all come from different places, but There’s nothing, I, there’s nothing to say that as I work with different folks who come across different folks, they can believe what they will.

I can still pray for them. Of course. Oh my god. Okay, I want to say that because when I say I’m not a woman of faith, I think, I don’t even think I ever talk about this on the podcast, but I was raised Jewish, but my mom is Catholic. Actually I don’t even know if he’s Catholic or Christian.

I wouldn’t even know because he [00:17:00] was just this big blur. But one of the things that I do know is that I can always send people light. I can always say, and it’s the same concept, right? I can always, when I say I pray, I’m sure I pray very differently. I can always wish people well. So I love, oh my God, I’m loving this conversation and kudos to you.

You were in my podcast before and you were so nervous. And today you’re just in your element. Thank you. Yeah, I love it. In your opinion, what are the key elements of a powerful personal brand? And how can our listeners start to cultivate these elements in their own lives? When I’m working with folks the three things I’m always looking at, and this is my own kind of spin on personal brand.

So I would say the key elements of your brand, we have things that were our strengths, things that we’re experiencing, that we’re really strong at. We have our natural gifts and abilities that one person’s just [00:18:00] really good at public speaking, or one person is just whiz with math in their head.

Or just a great writer. And then we have the things that we are passionate about and the way that I look at it is if you take and we don’t always see it in ourselves. Which is why, working with folks, whether it’s yourself or with career coaches it’s beneficial because you take those strengths, those passions, and those natural gifts and abilities, your natural superpowers.

You throw that into a bowl and mix it all together and what comes out. And your interpretation of what comes out is often what makes your brain work. Yeah, I love that. And I love how you created. I love saying this because a lot of the people that come on the academy, they go and use a lot of the knowledge that in a different way.

And you have made your own the concepts that we work on and you made it your own. And that is what true thought leadership [00:19:00] is. That’s what thought leadership is, right? Learning something and then really sifting that through your own beliefs, your own ideas, your own conviction, and then coming on the other side and expressing that from truly who you are.

So I love that. Have one more question for you. What do you hope that the readers will take away from your chapter? And how do you envision it making a real impact on their lives and their businesses? Big question. I had to think about that one leading into this. My hope is just that For the people who are worried for the women who are worried they’re not on track that they’re not where they need to be that they’re lost, just to realize and even by reading and this is going to not just resonate with my story.

I’ve read some of the chapters of the other ladies as well. This is going to resonate with their stories as well that our experiences. Good and bad from childhood up to now have been shaping you. You’re on [00:20:00] track, you’re not. Behind your not left out. Maybe it’s a time to slow down and have your eyes wide open to what to all of the gifts, all of those what I talk about those keywords, what they add to your puzzle, your life’s puzzle and where that’s taking you.

Maybe it’s time to slow down and look at some of that and see all of the limiting beliefs you’ve overcome. Maybe identify a few that it’s time to overcome, and then just take that journey to come out that other side, because you’re never too far off. You’re still on your journey, regardless of how old you are, regardless of where you’re at.

And that’s the biggest thing. Women love that. We have a habit of just thinking that. We’re too far off. We are never too far off. I think that there is and again, right? This is my own interpretation of this. I feel like we are so bombarded [00:21:00] by also like social media is an addition because you look at everybody’s journey before social media.

Like when I had my photography business years and years ago, before Instagram and Facebook, I was still around, but you didn’t really see where other people were. Like you saw they had a business, you saw their marketing, but people were not sharing as openly as they are now. A lot of the marketing especially in the business world is like, Oh, if you want to get to this amount of money or whatever, I’m not knocking on it.

I have used it too, because I know that a lot of women want to get there, but sometimes it makes us look at other people and be like, Oh, I’m not there yet. Something must be wrong with me. No, not at all. And the truth is that we’re all on our own journey, and we’re all exactly where we’re supposed to be.

Yep. And then I would also, I hope that everyone can take from this, and if not, hear it now. Our power is the culmination of that [00:22:00] journey. So that’s why no matter where you’re at, just keep going and take the time to reflect. Someone need someone to help reflect. I’m always available, but it’s just find someone who can help you reflect if you need to, but reflect.

I think that is so needed in the world in general. For me, my life personally went a million miles an hour. until I opened this business the way it is right now. Again, right? I had my business in different way, shape or form for 15 years now, but it wasn’t until I started this business the way it is right now.

And I went into personal branding and I really asked myself the hard questions. What were the difference I wanted to make in the world, all the things that I walk you ladies through that actually stopped. And I actually started reflecting. So this is amazing. [00:23:00] One more thing. Is there anything that you want to tell people about the book, the experience yourself, what you do, whatever it is that it’s in your heart right now, before we close it out.

Just that, I love the fact and being aligned to this book because the proceeds are going to charity, a women’s charity, which I looked up. It is global. So it’s very close to my heart, especially a woman coming from corporate who has been the independent single mom. So I love that. So just, and I’m starting to share that with folks as well.

But I would say, there are different levels of discovery who you are. There are people who are trying to discover themselves for a career. We are trying to discover ourselves in our personal life. But all of that, they may be Separate areas in your life, but they’re all together.

They’re all one. So, whether you’re working with someone or just taking that journey on your own, just continue that journey. Struggles are part of that journey. [00:24:00] We learn. Unfortunately, we learn from struggles more than we learn from take all of that as a blessing because. It’s by experience.

You’re building your puzzle. Yes, I love this. What is the name of your chapter? Discovery in pieces. I love it. Ladies, our book comes out on ebook on September 1st. We’re also going to have a complimentary book launch summit on September 10th. If you’re watching these or you’re watching the replay, I would love for you to either DM us or comment in here, book launch, and we’ll send you the link to support us.

The, again, the proceeds go all for, to Dress for Success, globally, because one of our authors is in France, and we can’t wait to impact a thousand women to actually tell their story. [00:25:00] And then all of our authors are going to be speaking on the B brand panel at our event in September. So if you haven’t gotten your tickets, September 26, 27, 28 is our live event here in Las Vegas.

Come join us elevate your network, build your personal brand. Let’s talk about personal growth. Let’s talk about money. Let’s talk about impact. And I love you and I’ll see you soon. Okay. Thank you for having me out. It was amazing. Thank you.
